February 2005 Recap- Debi's ride for Children Greetings 109ers
On Saturday we had our second annual "Debi's
Ride for Children". Yes it was rain or shine! No I don't believe
we had one motorcycle show up for the ride, but we did have a bunch of
things called "cars" show up as substitutes. Yes it did rain!
No it did not stop us from our task.... Yes "The Grand Poobaa"
Alan Cease was in attendance. Ginger and Steve were there to show
their support as well. No the rain did not stop all day. Yes
we had Starbuck's coffee and and a great sugar rush from all the Krispy
Kreme donuts to get the day started. No YOC did not get flooded by
the water but was flooded by people wearing these leather "Star" vests.
Dignitaries like Jim Travis (President of 345), Bob Barbano (President
230), Zoud Danko (President 237) all showed up. Yes the trivia run
wound around our Southern California roads (you could have floated some
small boats on some of them) and ended up at Chik-fil-a in Chino.
Justin (manager) invited us inside to keep us dry while we were tallying
the cards and selecting the raffle winners. Yes everyone made it
safely as Carl had each person draw the cards for the winning
hands . No members from 109 got the big prizes. Yes Erin
Alvarado from chapter 230 won the Grand Prize (HP digital photo and
printing system) and Danko Zoud from chapter 237 won the low hand prize
(portable DVD player). No the members of the chapter known as
"109" did not go away empty handed garnering the majority of the raffle
prizes. Yes Jeannette Cox won a beautiful "Star" blanket that a
lot of people wanted. No we did not eat more beef, but we did "Eat
Mor Chikin" at the end of the ride. Many thanks to Justin and his
staff for putting up with us and giving us a place to keep dry. As
many of you know they will be supplying all the food for our picnic in
June at Hillview Acres. Please support them and "Eat Mor Chikin".
There are so many people to thank...
Debi's
ride committee, You did It! Yamaha of
Cucamonga continues to blow me away with their generosity. Jay and
his bunch deserve 100% of your support. If you got a T-shirt read
the back to see all the people supporting this ride. Please
support them back by letting them know through your purchases throughout
the year that they are valued contributors to this event. Remember
we will be asking for their support again next year.
Debi's mom and dad, sisters and daughter
were there along with Jim to show support for this worthy cause and have
become members of our 109 family. We will cherish their support as
we will cherish the memory of Debi Wilson.
There are so many more things to say but I
might get a little long winded and
people would fall asleep by page 122 of the e-mail. Bear with me
and I will be doing my best to send out personal words of thanks over
the the next several weeks
