Debi’s Ride for Children and our Ten Year Anniversary-
September Ride Recap Every
year Star Touring and Riding, Inland Empire Chapter 109 host a charity
ride called Debi’s Ride for Children; we also combined this years event
with our Ten Year Anniversary celebration.I would like to thank everyone who came out to our event to help support our cause. That cause is supporting the Mariposas Foundation. They help children and there families who are suffering from rare blood disorders, cancer and other debilitating diseases. ![]() I would also like to thank all of our corporate sponsors and the people who helped acquire them, please visit the Debi’s Ride page on our web site to see our sponsors. And when ever you can please help us support those sponsors as well. Here’s a big thank you to my brothers and sisters of Chapter 109. Many people throughout Star tell me what a great event we put on. Well I’m here to tell you, you’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with. Everyone in the Debi’s Ride Committee put up with allot of directing, long hours and hard work. Not one of you guys complained one bit. We got to the park early, stood in the sun all day, directed traffic in very crowded conditions and served a lot of food. And I can’t thanks you guys enough. ![]() When we talk about how hard we worked, we also need to mention how worth it, it all was. WE RAISED A TOTAL OF $8,700.00. We are told that this is the largest donation to date, that the Mariposas Foundation has received from one source. We are honored and very proud and we are ready to do it again. Tony Barbano won the 50/50 and donated his half a total of $325.00 back to the Mariposas Foundation. Mikes grand-daughter Amanda sold $700.00 worth ride pins, we also voted her in as an official member of 109 Star Kids that day. We are very proud of Amanda. ![]() I want to say a few words about a friend of mine; he goes by the name Jimmy Mack. When I told Jim what we were doing, he jumped in like crazy. Jimmy put together all of the entertainment. He had a total of 4 bands. He also arranged he sound board and put the music schedule together as well. You see Jimmy Mack is not a Star member; he just wanted to help the kids. Thanks Jimmy Mack for all you did. And about that membership, we are going to change that very soon. ![]() To finish the day off we had a 10th anniversary cake to celebrate with and we also gave Vinnie Grieva a 10 year appreciation plaque for his dedication and service to 109. Check out this video by Irv Cassel, thanks Irv. Thanks again to everyone. And let’s do it again!!
