February Ride Recap

This month Chapter 109 held their 10th Annual Show and Shine, hosted by Yamaha of Cucamonga.
We started the day at The Whole Enchilada where we held our chapter meeting and indulged in a buffet style breakfast.  We discussed upcoming events (STAR BQ, Laughlin River Run, Kern River) and voted in 3 new riders.  We are please to welcome the following members to the 109 family:

Carol Olmos, Manny Ochoa, Donna Lenahan

Following the meeting we fell into formation and left as a group to Yamaha of Cucamonga, this years destination of the  Show and Shine.

As they have in the past Yamaha of Cucamonga put a great feast for everyone, it was like having a barbecue in the park which added to overall fun atmosphere of bikers getting together for a good time.  You could not have asked for a better day, there was plenty of sun and tons of shine from all the Chrome.

We had over 40 bikes entered in six categories and it was not an easy decision for any one.  Spectators were seen walking in circles checking every bike before voting and even then there were those that could not decide until last call.

Several enthusiasts stopped by just to show off their rides.  One of the two bikes that did not enter the Show and Shine but really stood out in the crowd was a vintage Russian bike with a sidecar and beautiful burgundy custom paint job.  The rider even brought a Russian flag with him to complete the vision.  There was also a classic Ducati SS that turned allot of heads and reminded some of us of our youth.

Although this was an event for Cruisers that did not stop one rider from bringing his customized sport bike to share.  This bike was so radically modified in paint, body and suspension that it could have won in any voting class.  It was a definite crowd favorite.

After the voting was called to a close and while the ballots were counted we drew the lucky numbers for the raffle.  Yamaha of Cucamonga donated gift certificates in the amounts of $250, $100 and two Gift certificates of $50.00.   The grand prize of $250.00 was won by 109’er Sandra Walters.   Upon conclusion of the raffle the Show and Shine winners were presented with their trophies.

Congratulations to the 2008 winners:
