April Ride Recap
We
had to skip our morning breakfast meeting to try and save some time.
This ride took us through Fall Brook, Borrego Springs and Julian.
It was in Borrego Springs where we stopped for
lunch and chapter meeting. The place that got the honors is the Palm
Canyon Resort.
http://www.palmcanyonresort.com/. During the pre-ride Gary made
arrangements for a buffet style lunch. The cost for this lunch was only
$11.00. I bring this up because this was the best $11.00 dollars that I
have spent in a long time. This food was GOURMET quality!! Slow cooked
beef and pork smothered in some type of home made bar b-q sauce. The
cook also had potato salad, hamburgers, bread and condiments for making
sandwiches. To top off this terrific lunch, they previously went out and
got us some pies from Julian. Apple Berry and Apple Peach.
I think everyone had seconds,
including me of course.
During our meeting we talked about the River Run
coming up and who was going. We also discussed the event committee and
decided to start getting things going right after Laughlin.
Another subject was our upcoming ride call So Cal Iron-Azz. We
mentioned how important it is to get registered even if you are not
planning on participating in this ride. Vinnie spoke about how important
it is to remember the bylaws and charter. And that the rules are in
place to help keep our association alive and well, he wanted everyone to
be reminded that riding with other groups is perfectly OK and Star can’t
stop anyone from enjoying this wonderful sport at any time. But what we
cannot do is start a club within our organization. We cannot put rockers
on our vest unless they are pre approved by our
chapter
president. We also cannot make T-Shirts that demeanor Star Touring and
Riding in any way, especially with any copyright infringements. Star
Touring and Riding International will not take any of these infractions
lightly.
Back to the ride, this rout has plenty of curves, turns and most of all beautiful scenery. Coming down from the summit towards Borrego Springs is simply spectacular. We could see for at least 100 miles down the valley. As mentioned in the email before the ride, the desert was in bloom and the picture taking was excellent. This ride has a skill level in the moderate range so not only did we get to see some beautiful country, we also got a thrill to boot.
